Another of the books in my favourites folder. I bought it years ago before I began doing reviews. It stands up so well in the re-reading. I've only read one other in this series and didn't like it. This one is a great story about a rake of an H and a lovely, gorgeous h, mistreated by the H 3 years before the start of the book. The H was living a scandalous life and accepted a wager to absolutely ruin the most innocent lady of the season, the h. He moved in with ease the h didn't stand a chance but at the very last moment (literally) he backed off. They meet again in London and the h does everything to avoid him but they keep getting thrown together. The old scandal rears its head and the couple are forced to wed. OMG what a wonderful love story after that. I do like a redemption story and the journey that it follows. Loved this one.

If you enjoy reading Historical Novels you need to read this Series!!
This is the second book in the series and what I loved about it was that from the first pages I was drawn into the story. All the main characters from the first book were present and interwoven among the pages of this book despite the fact it dealt mainly with the youngest daughter Katherine and the would be love of her life Jasper. I found this time she gave both the characters and the romance more detail early on so that I was sucked in from the beginning. Wonderful love story and definitely recommend this book.
these books by Mary Balogh were awesome English/London Historic day reads the cover and storyline peaked my interest and I am glad I did indulge in them ... they have been very good books I think she has written quite a few ) this series the Huxtable family is endearing and heartfelt in many of them I think there is like 5 maybe 6 all together..... ALL excellent reads..I especially Like her new series about the "Survivors club"
Then Comes Seduction. This book focus on the Katherine Huxtable, and she is the third child of the family. She finds herself in a compromising situation with Jasper Finley, Baron Montford. She goes into seclusion for three years and re-emerge to find out that her brother is friends with Montford. Eventually, the scandal becomes release and they are force to marry. Jasper has a serious betting problem which cause problems in their relationship. They manage to have every to out fine, but watching it unfolds is so much fun. A fantastic story as you read more into the Huxtable family.
I had read some Mary Balogh in the past and did like her work. When I was looking for new books or a series to read while I was traveling this series popped up on my recommended list. I’m glad it did! This was a good historical romance read. Were there parts that were predictable?…maybe, but that’s not a big deal to me, as I think it’s hard to have a completely “new” concept in historical romance now days.
I was looking for a good series to read and I just wanted to give this one a shot. This review is for book 1-3. I enjoyed this series a great deal. I loved the stories a great deal and all of the characters. The only reason I did not rate it higher was the writing style. Sometimes it just came across very disjointed. I do want to finish out the series just to see what happens I just wish It would flow better.
Katherine and Jasper's story is lovely and what Mary Balogh does best--healing wounded people with love. The Huxtables is her best series, even though I really liked some of the Survivors and the Bewcastle books, too. Still, every book in this series is a solid 5 star read and is cleanly crafted, without a lot of repetition and head narrative that too often plagues her books, especially the Survivors. A solid read with a wonderful cast of characters. A great hero and strong heroine. A must read.
