After graduating from the LSE/ King’s College London and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris, the lure of the Orient was too much for Vicky Honour, and her feet led her to China for the start of a fascinating journey through another culture.
Born in Bromley in 1975, travelling has always been a passion, prompted by her childhood spent in Paris with her ex-pat parents. Extensive travels in Europe, the US and Canada could not, however, prepare her for what she was to find in China, where she taught at the University of Nankai in Tianjin, or in beautiful and tragic Tibet which became her ‘holy grail’.
Although now living and working as a journalist in England, a part of Vicky remains in China – the Chinese part of her that was christened Rong Yi Yi.

The tale about the train ride was wild, I would not enjoy this now. When i was in the Navy 50 yearsa ago it would have been an adventure to look forward to. The details about Tibet really were written to with detail and vivid colors. This Lady was really far out and gave great details. Was worth reading several times. RexProduct details

this is certainly the best unavailable book i've ever read. Miss Honour has a unique and inspirational voice (she's also a bit of a looker too).
Travels in China is a rip-roaring, laugh-out-loud page turner from beginning to end. it was nominated for the unavailable booker prize and you can see why.
I read it from start to finish four times without putting it down once. Then i read it backwards.
Vicky Honour is currently working on her next best seller, Travels in Filton and Belfast, which will be unavailable in all good book shops.
