A reader’s worst nightmare is the dreaded BOOK SLUMP!  So, when I spot a new book release with a book blurb that intrigues at first scan, prettily wrapped in a spot-on and mesmerizing cover, and written by a new-to-me author that’s getting rave reviews, I am prone to grab it and one-click.  This book kicked me out of my slump — and hot damn, that makes everything groovy!

If you’re looking for romantic suspense that’s intense with absolutely captivating characters, look no further.  I could not put this book down.  I didn’t just read the pages — I lived inside them alongside the characters.  Still distressed and reeling from that abruptly thrown cliffhanger, I’m not sure I’ll be able to forgive the author for that little torture session.  But one thing I know for sure – I will one-click the conclusion to this saga the moment it’s released.  Amnesia is just too mysteriously eerie with characters who shine even in the darkest of settings, leaving questions unanswered that can’t be ignored.  The evilness that fills the night air surrounding the little town is closer than one might imagine.  The author has woven two threads with ease —  mystery and romance that are balanced and evenly interspersed throughout in what is one of the best mysteries I’ve read in ages.

The story unfolds with the rolling tide.  In a small, touristy town in Maine, while out for his evening walk, Eddie Donovan finds a young woman floating in the dark waters and he pulls her to shore.  When he looks into her face, a decade of haunting memories surface and sharp feelings of loss and guilt stare back.  When the beautiful young woman wakes from a coma two months later in a hospital, she has no clue who or where she is — with no sense of self.  Fittingly, she dubs herself “Amnesia.”

Amnesia’s character exudes strength in facing her fears.  Even with the physical and emotional scars as reminders of the abuse and nightmares she has suffered, she’s determined to make a fresh start.  She never once complains or feels sorry for herself.  Her focus is on moving forward.  I was in awe of her character, who truly earned my admiration, respect and stole my heart. 

Eddie is remarkable in his role as an extraordinary and terrific hero.  He is a true protector.  At times, he seems a little too good to be true.  His past holds its own years of loss and stolen happiness — and guilt.  Through it all, he’s got a kind word and a smile for everyone.  Most of all, he’s there for the lost girl that has stolen his heart.

No story is complete without angst, fear, sadness, loss and drama — no romantic suspense anyway.  And this one certainly hits all those marks.  With a dark twist to this story which will leave you on the edge of your seat as you try to unravel the mystery behind Amnesia, and the identity of who left her in the lake to die.  When flashes of sinister images begin to return with memories of who she was, danger nips at her heels, and threats become real against her life, she knows she’s not safe and she fears for Eddie’s safety, too.  On one hand, there’s so much sadness and tragedy, while on the other, you’ll find a perfect blend of sweet encounters filled with lively banter within the growing passion between Eddie and Amnesia.

Cambria Hebert delivers an epic tale of romance and longing, where past and present collide, and a future together is uncertain for two young lovers.  A spellbinding story of a young woman whose memories have been lost, along with the dark and ugly secrets they hide.  And a young boy who has grown into a man, while never forgetting the loss of his best friend on a tragic night long ago.  Wonderfully written from each main character’s perspective, the relationship between Amnesia and Eddie is clear and straightforward in its presentation.  There’s never a rushed feeling, and their story always comes across as honest which enables readers to connect and experience the steps of growth in their relationship from all angles, even while they are hit from all sides with long-kept secrets and potentially lethal danger.  Along with discovering oneself and the healing powers of love, lessons in the joys of friendship remind us to laugh, love and live life to the fullest — each day is precious — so, make each one count.

OMG.... this book is so stinking good....
I was recommending it before I even finished it because I knew it was going to end just that good.
I love a good mystery with my romance.
I was already reading AMNESIA by Cambria Hebert when all the drama started with the reviews and I just need to say that I am ashamed of any reader that left a crap review because it ends with some questions left unanswered. I mean come on. The story is complete all the way around and I understand completely why the ending was a "Cliffhanger" but did they not keep reading and see that the next book comes out this summer. DO they not remember how in the old way of publishing sometimes you had to wait years between books.... GIVE Cambria Hebert credit... she has next book coming VERY SOON and is not leaving us hanging. (Sorry, not sorry I got on my soup dish)

ANYHOW, Eddie and Am are just perfect and truth is, I have never fallen so in love with a secondary character as I have with Maggie. We all need a Maggie in our lives.
There is much mystery to this little nugget of gold with some great hot scenes and Eddie is just an all around GREAT guy as Am searches for answers.

I enjoyed all of it and I swear my heart just paused in my chest a few times until I turned the page.
I can not wait for the next book and I am so glad that I read this one.

Amnesia in Three Words Mysterious. Passionate. Interesting.

I really enjoyed the romantic suspense novel Amnesia. This is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it enough to try some of her other books as well.

I am a fan of mystery/thrillers, but if I am being honest, I prefer for there to be some romance in my books as well. Amnesia fits that bill. One night when the water was choppy on one of his late night walks along the shore, Eddie saw a figure floating in the water in the distance. He rushes out in the lake and saves the mystery woman, who also happens to look like someone from his past.

Amnesia chooses to be called just that when she wakes up in the hospital with none of her memories after being in a coma. I liked Amnesia and her struggle between wanting to know and not wanting to know what happened to her in the past. I enjoyed watching her try new things and food since she didn't know what she did or didn't like. All the while, Eddie is there for her. He is a hunk, and wonderfully sweet.

I enjoyed the small town setting where everyone knows each other and has some quirks. I also enjoyed the mystery aspect of the book, because there is more than just one thing going on. Eddie's mysterious past he isn't sharing with Amensia along with Amnesia's own rocky history and missing memories kept me curious throughout the book.

The Verdict I look forward to reading book two.
