Three years into a five-year marriage of convenience, Jenn finds herself wanting something she never thought she'd want from her laid-back, ex-military husband. Sex - as a much-needed release of tension from her high-stress job. But weekly sex with Nick, despite their careful parameters, is likely to get messy eventually.
Ever since her father walked out on her as a child, Jenn knows never to assume the people she loves will stick around, so she's not about to trust Nick with her heart. She vows to stay strong, no matter how much intimacy develops between them in bed.
But what starts as a tension-reliever soon becomes so much more, until it threatens both their practical arrangement and the heart Jenn has worked so hard to keep safe.
Married by Contract (Audible Audio Edition) Noelle Adams Carly Robins Books
This is sort of the opposite of another of the author's previous books - "A Negotiated Marriage". In that one, the hero contracts a marriage to help his reputation/business. In this one, it's the heroine that contracts a marriage to modify her image for her business.I enjoyed this one more. Nick, the hero, has a lot of personality and is a really good guy. Jenn is a business owner and is driven, but she's relatable. The previous book spent a lot of time describing a high class lifestyle. This one does not.
Jenn is afraid to care for anyone because she thinks she will lose them. Nick has returned from serving in the military and just doesn't want to deal with "anything hard" anymore. Jenn arranges the marriage to help her appear more "domestic" for the baby's clothing business she runs. Nick agrees to the contract and accepts money from Jenn to start his private investigative business.
With about two years left on their contracted marriage, their feelings for each other begin to change. This is the story of that process.
Both characters change and grow. The story is not full of angst or stupid behavior. I enjoyed it a lot.

Married by Contract (Audible Audio Edition) Noelle Adams Carly Robins Books Reviews
This was a cute little love story with the characters in this story were loveable to take each other to be married to help each other out. The author did a great little story with the same way anyone else would have done it. Of coarse the story turned out to be a real one marriage.
This is a book you read when you want something laid-back, with compelling characters, and a marriage of convenience with an interesting dynamic. Most of the ‘marriage of convenience’ books I’ve read typically have a wealthy man who convinces a woman to marry him and then she falls in love and must find a way (or wait patiently) for him to reveal the feelings he develops.
In Married By Contract, the roles are reversed. The female lead is the one with money who initiates the marriage. She’s married to her work, but feels the need to have a husband in name only. Good thing she found a super-sexy damaged guy who cooks great and seems determined to look after her.
This story gets a little intense with the love-making, sizzling actually. After all, married folks should be able to have guilt-free sex. Except when the clock is ticking on their divorce.
Jenn and Nick both agreed on a 5-year marriage arrangement. They have been married for 3 years now, but things are starting to change. Jenn is a workaholic. She is focused and determined with making her career successful. Nick is a PI, but he is more laid back, relaxed and funny. They actually balance each other out, but Jenn just doesn’t realize it yet. She has abandonment issues and doesn’t let anyone in. Can Nick break down her walls?
Since Jenn is over-stressed at work she tends to get headaches. This is where Nick steps in to help and things change in a way Jenn didn’t see coming. I could tell right away how hard Jenn was fighting her feelings, and also how much Nick adored her. Nick is actually a total sweetheart in everyway, and I really loved him. Overall this is a cute quick read and I enjoyed it.
It took me a while to order this book because I kept think I had read it before. The description reminded me of another book.
Jenn is a very busy business woman with a great deal on her plate. She entered into a marriage contract with a former school mate. She needed to look like a more traditional woman to be accepted by some of her business contacts.
Nick is an ex-military PI. He is pretty laid back. The book opens 3 years into their 5 year marriage contract. They discover that they need to amid their contract as they decide to as sex into their relationship. But only once a week.
This is a very sweet story of two people that probably discovered each other before they were really ready for a relationship. But they have both grown and have begun to really care about each other.
That said I did keep feeling like I had read the book before. I finally looked back and found that what I was thinking of was a short another book by Noelle Adams' called "A Negotiated Marriage" I have it as part three story book. (It might have been release as a stand alone single not sure) The characters are actually the opposit of Married by Contract; supper successful husband, less successful wife. but the story is very similar and several of the scene were almost the same.
That said I did still enjoy this book

The following information is provided so that the reader can decide if this is the type of book for them. It is not meant as judgement rather as a guide for readers to decide if this is their type of book.
LanguageThere are swear words but very few and very mild
Sex There are several descriptive sex scenes. They are between a husband and wife and are with in most people traditional norms
Story/SexThere are several sex scenes in the book but the story is focus of the book with the scenes supporting the story not the other way around
I love this author and she's one of the few that I still preorder but this one was missing something. She's done this arranged thing better in "A Negotiated Marriage" and "Missing". Here our main characters married for convenience 3 years earlier - him because she paid off his business loan. Her because she needed to give off a certain image in business. Their deal is to last 5 years before they part ways. They are complete opposites, the h is a super uptight workaholic, and the H is a seemingly laid back PI. They change their initial agreement and begin to include having sex together and from then everything changes. I found the h a bit much and hard to like for a good part of this shortish story. The H was lovely but difficult to read. There is lots of sex but again, something was missing. Ms Adams manages to step up a gear towards the end but this book wasn't a winner for me.
